October 2009 Meeting
Topic
Energy Efficient Solutions for Data Center Heat Rejection
A variety of design strategies will be presented that offer significant savings in peak electrical demand and annual power consumption, while effectively controlling cold aisle temperature and humidity within the recommended best practices envelope. The pros and cons will be discussed for each of the cooling systems presented. Air handling designs that use air-side economizers, direct evaporative cooling, direct plus indirect evaporative cooling, and a new indirect exclusive cooling technique that rejects heat to ambient air 'indirectly' will be presented.
Speakers
Thomas S. Weaver - Conservation Mechanical Systems

Thomas S. Weaver is a 1983 graduate with a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He began his engineering career as a field engineer on a 130 MW Geothermal Power Plant in Northern California where he was involved in all aspects of the power plant's mechanical systems. Mr. Weaver went on as a Project Manager for many large construction projects in San Francisco supporting the HVAC systems while working for a mechanical subcontractor.
