March 2010 Meeting
Topic
The Solar Multiple - Solar HVAC vs. PV
Sargon will present the concept of solar cooling in two parts. The first part will focus on the differences between photo-voltaic and solar-thermal panels. While photo-voltaic panels are the conventional method for applying the sun’s energy, mechanical engineers and contractors will be pleasantly surprised to learn about the advantages that solar-thermal systems offer. The second part of the presentation will focus on how to apply solar cooling systems to representative buildings. The concepts taught in the second portion will apply to solar-thermal, photovoltaic, and all green building technologies in general.
