I would like to thank everyone who participated in our annual Bocce Ball Tournament, especially our corporate sponsors. We had another excellent turnout, with all the credit going to our tournament director (Bocce Ball Chair) Gabriel Perez. Congratulations are in order to our 1st place team, Southland Industries, consisting of Mark Napier, Scott Tall, Jessica Kelley and Ron Izumi. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!Our last two meetings of the year will be our refrigeration tour at San Jose State University Cogeneration plant (May 13th) and our Past Presidents Night & Casino Night (June 10th). Both of these programs were widely attended last year so please mark your calendars now and RSVP early. Our research committee chairs have promised that the Past Presidents Night & Casino Night will be “bigger & better” this year.
We will be awarding two student scholarships at the dinner preceding our refrigeration tour on May 13th. The scholarship money is a combination of funds collected on behalf of the San Jose ASHRAE Chapter and a donation made to the Scholarship Fund of the San Jose Chapter of ASHRAE in honor of Air Filter/Control founders Bob Swezey and Gene Valerio, by Bob’s wife, Sue Swezey.
In chapter news, Yindy Chow and Joe Chin will be representing our local chapter as our delegate and alternate at the Region X CRC on May 1st through 3rd in Orange County. We wish them good luck and safe travels.
